Dear Papyrus,
I saw a Letter for suggestions on your page and I just had to get in
my two cents worth.
Let me get to the point. I love Nascar with a passion. I play at least
four to six hours a day; lets face it, thats all I do. I have
noticed so many things in the real thing thats not in your game. This
is a simulator, right?
I have a list of features I think you should include in Nascar Racing
2. I am sure you have seen some or all of them, but I leave no stone
unturned.
1) I think Ducting plays a big roll in Nascar. The fact is your car
has no chance of overheating
without cranking rpms on a hot day; in fact you can barely reach
optimum temp. If I am not mistaken, temp goes up at a stop, not down,
thus adding more challenge. The ability to tape up these ducts by the
inch adds more downforce to the front. Of course temp goes up, but
again, thats what the big dawgs do, I wanna do it, too. After all,
this is a sim.
2) Gearbox should have reverse before first on the shifter, using the
gas pedal instead of a red button on my TM-T2.
3) Some short tracks have a problem with brakes and brake temp, which
goes back to ducts. Also, I cannot lock up the brakes, which is a BIG
factor.
4) Everybody has crashes. I should Know, being the unofficial crash
king of my area. There is a fact I hate, and thats not being able to
get your wings. Yes, thats right. Cars dont flip, roll, tumble or
any of that exciting stuff. Do not get me wrong; I feel the pain when
I see Cravin, Elliot, and I will never forget Dale and his collar,
sternum, and every thing else. The point is they do it; I wanna do it,
too.
5) Pitting. I just want a different stall. Stalls are earned when you
qualify, right ? If anything, please add this feature.
6) The ability to describe not just the driver but the team as well.
As you know, some pit crews are considerably faster, even on full
stops. Some drivers wreck more than others, but thats not the point.
The ability to set experience, brains, short track/long track ability,
and luck would probably cover every thing in that area.
7) Breakdowns for the player are not very common. I have never lost an
ignition box, but somebody else does every race I run. Standings do
not show why you are out when you go out. Blown Engines sometimes
still run a little, just enough to get to the pits. They also smoke
and put out oil spots. Speaking of smoke, make the tire smoke linger
around a little longer. Ten cars crash and you cant see a thing, no
matter where you go.
8) Yellow flags do not come out every time in real life. Maybe if you
set it where only damaged cars stopped in the racing line or close to
it, considering the fact that every little tap would bring out the
yellow.
9) Tracks. You cannot go two wide at Talladega through the dogleg,
much less three. Its not that I cannot do it, its the computer cars
that chicken out every time. I think the turn just is not quite right;
its a little more subtle in real life.
10) Last, but certainly not least, tire marks. Could you guys possibly
make it where you make those tire marks yourself, maybe gradually
around the groove? Id like to see my tire marks go up to the wall
where I spin and eventually smack the wall; of course, clearing any
marks when I leave for a fresh track when I get back.
I hope you like some of these ideas, that is, if they are fresh, and
possibly use some.
Please do not think I am complaining. I am just trying to help make
this one SMEAR anything that tries to touch it!
Thanks.
Sincerely,
Keith E. Welch, #46 SLICK
