After I leave the track and esc. back to the pit/replay screen, the top half
of my screen is flashing and everything is out of place?  I've installed the
openGL patch, is there a setting in the vid card control panel I need to
change?  I thought I posted this earlier but it never showed up?

Maybe you should try the D3D7-rasterizer instead of OpenGL. Get it here:
http://www.papy.com/downloads/gpl_d3d.exe
Hint: Follow the included instructions in the readme!

Thanks! that did the trick.  Didn't have to do any tweaking.
