must be wrong...

>Everyone is ignorant to some degree, except of course Jesus Christ.

If believing that makes you happy, I'm glad for you.  There are too many
inconsistencies and unanswered questions involved (for starters) for my
taste.

You focus on that which you care about (which I think is tiresome and
trivial and dogmatic) and I will focus on what I care about which you find
tiresome and trivial and dogmatic.

I promise you my spiritual side is likely much more well-explored than
yours.  We would probably disagree on the notion that spirituality must, by
definition, include belief/faith/whatever in Jesus Christ.  My decision to
discount Christian mythology is not based in ignorance, but just the
opposite.  One essential difference in our spiritualities is that I don't
insist mine includes objective 'truth.'

I don't know, but it drives me up the wall.  Every time I write a
scientific paper for publication, I write it with a British spelling
convention, being Canadian.  If I decide later to submit to an american
journal, I have to hunt down "extra" u's and add all those
"zeeeees".  Small matter, but irritating.

There's some cases where I wish phonetic spelling were used, like the
acronym 'GIF.'   Some folks pronounce it as though the first letter were a J
(like the peanut butter), but I pronounce it with a hard 'G' because the the
first letter stands for 'graphic', not 'jraphic.'

Too bad there wasn't some convention like specifying the character set in
use in an HTML document.  You could put the regional and language info in
the heading of the paper and it would account for all those things.  I may
rag on people that can't spell, but at least I make exceptions for regional
variations (if I am aware of them.)

You miss the point entirely Eldred.

It is arguable whether Jesus H Christ existed as a divine entity or not.
Personally, I couldn't care less being one of no particular faith.

The point is that the guy cannot lambast people for minor spelling mistakes
and then claim a deliberate abuse of the rules of English grammar as his
right without reeking of hypocracy.

Fictional character or not. Jesus Christ has capitals fixed to his name in
the same way that  David Copperfield, Robinson Crusoe or Mickey Mouse do. A
proper noun is a proper noun, period.

The fact that the guy stated that he used lower case letters deliberately to
"piss off Christians" i my opinion simply speaks volumes as to his
character - seemingly based on intolerance, hypocracy and a genuine desire
to stir the proverbial stick standing in it.

Sure I can.  There is a big difference between making a mistake because you
don't know any better (in which case it isn't really a mistake, is it?) and
doing something incorrectly on purpose for a specific reason.

Ever notice that I don't capitalize my own name in my signature either?  I'm
not the first person to do that and I won't be the last.  I didn't fail to
capitalize it out of ignorance of the rules, so picking on people who are
ignorant of the rules isn't hypocritical.

I'm not intolerant of Christians, I just think a lot of them are pretty
funny the way they get all foamed up about silly little things regarding
their beliefs.  I'm sure plenty of people think I'm pretty pathetic and
silly for getting worked up about spelling errors and that's fine with me.
I'll let you know when your opinion of me starts to matter.  Don't hold your
breath.  Do I like to stir people up?  Yep. I don't think being complacent
about illiteracy is a good thing.  I also like to be helpful sometimes and I
do so in here on a regular basis.  Like most people, I'm a mixed bag.

As far as character, if you think that someone who likes to poke fun at
religious people and occasionally pick on peoples spelling errors makes me a
bad human being, then your criteria for character seems very shallow, IMHO.
