>: Are you calling *me* a stubborn idiot?

>gets one more kick at the can?

Ouch!  In my experiences, there's nothing much more embarrassing on
the 'net than trying to prove you're not stupid, and in the process
coming across more stupid than before!  Eldred, I hope you're
recovering OK!

Yeah, yeah, I'm just kidding.  Everyone makes mistakes and all that.

Maybe it'd help for you to think of it as a convenient celebration
that we've *all* made it through another year.  That's how I think of
it anyway.  If that doesn't work, you could also try celebrating the
fact that everyone's entering a new year, chock full of possibilities
and new experiences.

For me, it's the birthday thing.  So, I'm celebrating the fact that my
parents put me on this earth?  How self-centered is that?

It looks like the thread flaming each other about when someone started
counting AD or BC and how to name the next or past group of years is going
to be longer than the thanks we gave to the folks at Papy for such a great
program as GPL. It saddens me to think that when someone sees things a
little differently than another that each view has to be defended till the
death with personnal attacks and spelllling error bomb threats. The saddest
part is how revealing these discussions are about the current state of our
tolerance for each other and our differing views. I wonder if Christ was as
intolerant as we seem to be. I wonder if he was intolerant of intolerance?
Oh well, more than enough said.

Take care all

>Do you apply the same credo to other religions?

Yes.

As far as I am concerned, yes.

Though I understand why it appeals to some people, I think the whole concept
of religion is silly.  I don't care who or what you worship.

Why does this happen, I wonder?  Were Americans just feeling all haughty and
said "Hah! we won't spell it *their* way, we'll change a letter...that'll
show 'em."

Everyone is ignorant to some degree, except of course Jesus Christ.
You might want to concern yourself more upon the fact that you are
such a tiresome pedant.

Personally, I think you should focus on your spiritual side prior to
improving your social skills.

Do you apply the same credo to other religions?  They are all "fairy tales", are
they not? Care to inflame the Muslims, perchance?  I believe that they are most
tolerant of those who "piss them off", as Mr. Rushdie will vouch.
