I laught at all the people who think GP3 is crap, it is by far the
best current F1 sim around. I also laugh because no matter how much
the complain and whinge GP3 will have the greatest following because
of its similarity to GP2, which means we will have tracks, new carsets
new sounds, new everything. About 10 orders of magnitude more than GPL
and F12K put together.

(Not that im saying GPL is bad, there just isnt as much stuff for it
compared to GP2).

I dont get it? I played gp2 to death and its still my fav sim just ahead of
gpl. Yet I find gp3 complete bullshit. In gp2 if you put a tyre on the grass
or gravel you would get some kind of reaction, in gp3 I drive completely
over the curb with only one wheel left touching the track and the handling
hasnt been changed at all. Like the car is on a magic carpet.

Please enlighten me is there an option called "Shit physics" I can turn on
and off?

I personally dont think GP3 is crap....but it`s hard for me to say it`s
better "overall" than F1-2000. I think both F1-2K and GP3 are great
in some ways, suck in others, and both have some really stupid
aspects to them that make you scratch your head and wonder just
wtf the developer was thinking. It`s funny that even some old sim`s
like F1RS and MGPRS are better than GP3/F1-2K in a few ways
(of course not "overall" though). I find great weather effects to be
the main strong point of GP3. It`s almost worth the cost of the game
to have it. With F1-2K it`s the great races I have online that I like the
most (and I like the feel of the car a little more than the GP3 car ).
F1-2K is the first modern sim (that I know of) to have fast and easy
online play, and once you get into that it`s hard to spend time with
another sim that cant be played online. So for that reason, if I had to
keep just one of them... it would be F1-2K. But I still like GP3 quite
a bit... and if GP3 had online play it would be a close call. . .

Well thats my opnion (wanted or not.. lol  =o)

Btw, there is all kinds of 3rd party stuff out for F1-2K and GPL, so
I doubt you are going to see GP3 get, as you say " About 10 orders
of magnitude more than GPL and F12K put together."

All the best,
Lorne

This is strange. I've noticed it too. In some places you can get half off
the track with no problems. other spots it behaves correctly with one wheel
in the grass inducing a spin! Sounds like a track editing problem to me.

Yeah, it is a bit weird, mainly on the curbs though, it spins you out
if you get on the grass or whatever if there is no curb though.

By 2000 standards GP 3 is NOT a sim. Period.

Its indeed just an effort to make some extra bucks from an in-efficient
over-aged graphics/physics engine.
Hardly any effort was done to REALLY improve the game.
But if you like it, thats ok.

I wonder why they didn't add a Brittany Spears soundtrack, to make you
kiddies buy the crap.

Well, if you have a look on www.grandprix2.com, there are 1000s of
files just on GP2. There is not nearly as much for GPL (though it
doesnt really need it) and F12K (it really does need it).

Well there are updated tracks as of this morning, a frame rate limit remover
was released earlier this week, and a carshape editor is in progress, nearly
ready.

GP3 only hit the shelves a few hours ago!!

No, learn some maths old boy. Ten orders of magnitude is 10 to the power
of 10, which is 10 billion. But, OK, if you thought that he meant a factor
of 10, then you may well be right. I can't believe that there were over
100,000 pre-orders for this game in the UK.

For it's size the GPL community is very productive.  From the initial 11
cicuits there are now nearly 50.
Anyway, GPL doesn't need much fixing, the 1.2 patch, maybe new sound effects
and you're ready to go.

LOL....  When I wrote this:

Btw, there is all kinds of 3rd party stuff out for F1-2K and GPL, so
I doubt you are going to see GP3 get, as you say "About 10 orders
of magnitude more than GPL and F12K put together."

I was simply responding to the original posters choice of words:
**About 10 orders of magnitude more than GPL and F12K put together.**
There are many 3rd party add-ons for GPL and F1-2K, and sure after 4
years GP2 has "1,000`s"...  & I have no doubt with all the GP3 pre-orders
and the large following already built into GP3 we will see [a lot] of 3rd
party
stuff for GP3, BUT, "About 10 orders of magnitude more than GPL and
F12K put together." ??.... Nah, I think about 4 orders of the magnitude
more is a better guess... lol ;) Then again, with all the add-on`s GP3`s in
need of.... maybe the original poster will prove to be correct after all
=o)

All the best,
Lorne

The source of my surprise is that so many people would buy solely on the
strength of a previous version. My philosophy is to check it out first (i.e.
a demo), then open my wallet (or not). I need to take my software
development more seriously if people are so trusting! :)

It's amazing it took so many people so long to achieve so little.
It's like Geoff and crew went on vacation for 3 years, ran back
and updated GP2 in 6mos.
As you can tell, I'm a tad disappointed. I would have expected
a more polished product in 4 years.
