GP3 2000 imola best times

by Ian Mars » Tue, 09 Apr 2002 03:55:36

Folks,

I was curious to see what times people achieve at Imola. I saw that
the best time is something like 1:23  by Ralf Schumacher.

With GP3 2000 either in practice, race or quicklaps I have not
achieved a time better than 1.32.XXX. Even with a couple of slight
slides and not perfect driving i have a hard time thinking the
difference can be so large. Is everyone getting 1.2X.XXX times ?

Thanks Ian

I'm not sure whether GP3 2000 is harder, but in the old GP3 I remember doing
about a 1:24.8 and I ain't no Michael Schumacher.  You don't have a
controller problem that is restricting full throttle, do you?

After many many laps, I can get into the 1.28-29's.  AI can do it faster but
not 1.23's.

I really find Imola challenging, frustrating, exciting, and utterly
absorbing - you learn something new about the track every time you drive it.
My best - which is slow compared to the other whizzes on this thread has
been 1.28.898 (a time I put !! against it but which was only fifth on the
grid - best in a race has been 1.29.972.  Set-up I use is from the net and
has a very low (make that very very low) ride height and very high wings
20-20).

Can't see how anyone could do a 1:21.6
THAT'S Unbelievable.
This stinks strongly of someone being seriously talented.
How do they do that?
That's EIGHT POINT THREE something or another quicker.
That's impossible.
Yeah
That IS impossible.
Or that is what I am telling myself.
Best I did on the GP3 (as opposed to GP3_2000) was about 1.34ish...

Trickiest part of the course: The Firestone Corner - how much do you lift?
How much do you brake? What turning degree do you use on the wheel? What do
you look at as a signal as you turn?

Any and all comments VELCOME

Ciao baby

At this site, just about the most reliable hotlap competition around,
the record is at 1:22.365, with the first 4 under 1:22.5.  Don't know
whether it's GP3 or GP3 2000 though...
