F1 (Psy) Crashes on Millennium 2 help!

by Barnaby Burma » Sun, 14 Sep 1997 04:00:00

I was wondering, has anyone had their PC crash with F1 when using a Matrox
Millennium 2 card?

I say this as the game just stops while playing, and the sound keeps at the
same tone. (and a freeze-frame) From this point, the only option is to
restart as the computer dies.

Both DX3 and DX5 do the same thing..

Any ideas? Has anyone been able to play with the Millennium 2 on its own
(its very fast when it works!).

Have had somewhat similar problems with new Millennium II AGP card,
installed in Dell 300MHz P6 (just arrived yesterday).  Also have
Orchid R3D installed.

* GP2 mostly runs smoothly, but occasionally the game does not want to
recognize keystrokes.  E.g., I'll press spacebar to pause, and GP2
stops momentarily, then continues, and Dell will beep if I continue
pushing spacebar.  Otherwise, runs nearly always at <100% occupancy in
SVGA with all textures on, except sky.  Have also turned off most
textures in mirrors.
* Also tried installing Mechwarrior Mercenaries 3D, which needs
DirectX3.  Have tried nearly every config combo I can think of, and it
always dies and kicks back to Win95 desktop at the point where it's
supposed to go into 3D simulation on the R3D card.

If you've figured out if this is all just problems with the Matrox
card and DirectX, or anything else, please reply via email:

to get this off this ng.

Thanks,

Dave
