What you will probably find with these people who hate f1rs but like gp2 is
that they are keyboard players and in gp2 when you use keyboard you are
automatically using the steering help option which makes gp2 very easy and
very unrealistic as most of the steering is done by the computer. Now these
gp2 keyboard players like to think of themselves as realistic sim lovers
which is probably why they hate f1rs since they find it so much harder and
this threatens their believe that they are good realistic sim drivers,
pretty pathetic really.
Gp2 with steering help on(ie keyboard) is almost like driving on rails and
makes a great f1 sim more like a complex arcade racer, now as long as those
using keyboard realise that, no problem but if they think they can compare
sims on a car handling basis based on this experience they are sadly
mistaken. No doubt I have hit a sensitive spot here with some of my former
comments but I thought it had to be said for those that might be led astray
by some gp2 keyboard players. These comments are not an attempt to convince
those gp2 players I mentioned as these people have their minds made up and
thats fine.

You start a statement with "probably" and then end it with a
conclusion as "pathetic". Yeah, right.

They're both great games, with their pros and cons. It's not a matter
which game "is best", it's which game you  like most. Matter of taste,
actually.

Shouldn't you be getting ready for school rather than wasting your time in
this group?

The problem is that any driving-sim played on KB is not going to be
realistic. I do think that what Crammond has done with steering help on
F1GP and GP2 does make playing on KB far more enjoyable though because
it allows the car to follow a gentle curve rather than several 'pulses'
of sharp steering - as in almost every other sim. If you have to pulse
the steering it can lead to 'sudden sharp steering' at an inoppertune
moment - making consistent driving almost impossible.

My experience of using a wheel is limited - I built my own years ago but
it needs fixing. I have little experience of F1RS either but I must say
the demo looked good considering it's lack of functionality. I have
played GPL Demo with Joystick and I must say it's great to be able to
set up the correct steering angle and then use the throttle to steer the
car round the corner. If F1RS is like this with a steering wheel I may
yet be converted ;-)

At present my computer is only a Cx166+ (no 3DFX) so F1RS and GPL are
off limits.

Roll on Force feedback steering wheels...

btw If this doesn't make sense its because I don't have a real driving
licence  8-)

Obviously you have spent a lot of time and effort in coming to this
conclusion. How silly of us not to have thought of this before? How
can we thank you for giving us the benefit of your wonderful powers of
observation?

What a total Wingnut! Plank! and utter Neanderthal!!!!

Absolutely, I own both, as well as many other sims, and agree 100%.
There is no *best*, it's all subjective.
