Radeon or GeForce 2 for GPL?

by mr_d.. » Wed, 24 Jan 2001 03:33:23

Hey GPLers,

Need to know if anyone is running GPL with a Radeon and D3D patch?

Still undecided between GeForce 2 - 32MB DDR or Radeon VIVO 64MB DDR.

Can you post experience with Radeon and GPL. Any inputs would be appreciated

Tx!

Radeon or GeForce 2 for GPL?

Radeon 32MB DDR here and GPL is perfect.  I haven't run with a field of cars
yet but when I'm hotlapping it's a solid 36fps.

With my old Rage Fury 32 MB the frame rate would drop with lots of cars or
whenever those checkerboard "walls" were about to appear.

I'm glad you qualified that....just about ANY newer card should
be able to handle solo hotlapping.(provided you have more than a P166)
The best stress test is at the start of a race when your car is in the
back.
that # will show a vid cards true strength or weakness.

Asus a7v

128m pc/133
sb live value
radeon 64m ddr tivo

I tried at several tracks with full field and the 1280x1024 setting/ with
absolutely everything on, full detail at 100%, full detail in mirrors, it
droped to about 26-28 on start, I could see every car, at the 1st turn I was
at 35-36 fps and stayed there thru the race.
hope this helps

Can the ATI Radeon Users please tell us their Operating System also. I
for one have never been able to get an ATI card to work with GPL in
Win95/98.

SLG

P3-850
256MB RAM
Dell OEM GeForce 2 GTS 32MB
28-36 at 1280*1024, full detail, only cars in mirrors (must for
online), All trackside, all on except arms. with full field. I can
turn the mirrors on when hotlaping and see no decrease in framerate,
usually at 36, except at start - this is at all tracks including
Bremgarten.
