Connecting Wheel/pedals and joystick to ACM card

by Richard Bing » Tue, 03 Dec 1996 04:00:00

I currently have a Sidewinder 3D Pro connected to my Gateway P5-166
through the gameport on the bundled Ensoniq Soundscape.

I'm considering adding a Thrustmaster Formula T2 wheel/pedals to my
system.

Is it possible to hook up both the Sidewinder joystick and the T2
wheel/pedals at the same time to the two ports on the ACM game card?

Is one of the dual ports joystick 1 and 2 and the other 3 and 4?

I read somewhere that Win95 expects wheel/pedal combos to all be on
joystick 1 (requiring a converter) but that DOS games expect the pedals
on joystick 2.  Will there be a problem running a mixture of DOS/Win95
racing games?  Will I have to keep taking the converter off?

Is it even worth having the joystick on joystick 3?  Do joystick games
typically let you choose which joystick to use? (I only have 1 joystick
now, so I've never been offered a choice) Or will I be forced to unplug
the T2/plug in the joystick, reboot, recalibrate, etc. when I want to
play a non-driving game?

Any other advice/warnings?

Thanks!
