NFS2SE Joystick Problems

by jim gallaghe » Tue, 18 Nov 1997 04:00:00

Hello,
I've just finished installing the 3dfx version of this game,
but find that while the joystick says it's properly configured in the
control panel the game apparently doesn't *see* it because the* set
sensitivity* cannot be highlighted.  It's a F-15 Talon joystick which
works properly with flight sims.  Do I need to install both the regular
and 3dfx versions of the game to be able to configure the joystick?
Does this sim allow for configuring of a joystick from within the game?
All advice greatly appreciated.

Yes, the game itself has a controller setup which you need to use.
They have implemented controller support perfectly. This game
supports every controller imaginable and allows full customisation
of all driving functions.

My congratulations go out to EA, their implementation of controller
support is an object lesson to all Win95 game developers !!

Please, then someone send that great controller code over to EA
Sports, they need it desperately! Both NHL98 and FIFA98 have severe
(and identical) controller bugs with MS Sidewinder gamepads on many
(but not all) systems.

For which game?  I can't get rid of the central 'dead zone' no matter
what sensitivity I choose in NFS2SE.  This makes using a wheel next to
unplayable.

Papy have separate options for analogue stick or wheel to get around it,
_that's_ good controller support.

If you (or EA) know how to remedy this I'd be grateful to find out.

Cheers,

Mark
