GP2 in GERMANY - First Impressions

by Robin Sch?nwa » Wed, 17 Jul 1996 04:00:00

Hi Folks!

GP2 is really out - in Germany (Karstadt). The games is really
great and EXTREMLY difficult to win against the computer opponents!

There is something I miss:

- No weather conditions
- No individual car design (colors)
- AND NO WAY TO CHANGE THE WHEELS ???!! I wasnt able to figure out
how to change the wheels, A, B, C, D or qualifying. Any suggestions?

OK, here are my first impressions...

Hardware: Pentium 133, 1MB Grafic, 32 MB, Thrustmaster 2

The control options are fantastic. You are able to configure the
Thrustmaster in every detail. The best: Once you setup the controls,
theres no need to calibrate the joystick/Thrustmaster again.

The driving feeling is extremly realistic, sound is great and performance
very good. With Pentium 133 I have 16 fps with detail level 3, but I
prefer 18,2 fps with detail level 1. In the mirrors I turned the details
off except borders.

The computer opponents are really intelligent. I've played GP1 for many
years and have no chance against the computer - even in semi-pro level!
Ok, maybe I have to try a little bit more... But GP2 is really a drug.
But I'm really interested if anyone beat the best lap in Hockenheim
- post your setup!

If you hit the key "o", the performance will be displayed. With 100% in
average the computer runs well, less means you can turn the fps or details
higher and more means (yes, more than 100%) to turn the detail level
lower. So the game can be easily setup to best performance/best quality.

Thats all for now... I have to go back for the next race!

Robin
