GP2 In U.S. Finally!! First Impressions

My system:
AMD 5x86-133Mhz
32 Meg 60ns ram
1mb Trident VLB
Conner 1.2gb hd
Thrustmaster T2

Okay, to the good stuff.....Finally picked up GP2 at Babbages, in Dallas, tx,
at mall next to Galleria. Store clerk had EVERY copy on hold for various
people. Mine was one of them. Got home and loaded it up, played quick race in
vga after setting up T2 wheel. First off GREAT SOUND!!! I love the sound when
you let off the throttle! Second, tire lockup - very cool! Great feel of
panic stops, sudden gain of control when you regain grip after sliding. Play
in vga on my system is not bad at all. In ICR2 I get around 15-23 fps, not
sure what I average in GP2. After running all over the track in vga, played
in Svga, and like the look MUCH better, unfortunately, frame rates dropped to
a slide show. (seemed around 10 fps by "feel"). Tried Monaco in svga with
some detail, no go. Overall, I think the game is great. The sound is much
better than ICR2, of course, but the game is also better in other respects. I
still LOVE ICR2, but GP2 is also a great game.

Gotta get back to playing (and getting lost in all the menus!...)
