At this time is it impossible to use the Daytona NL demo track that came with
the Daytona 500 program with the Papyrus NL sim?  Hasn't anybody been able to
figure out how to get it to work?  Is the opinion that nobody will be able to
figure out how to get it to work?

I doubt anybody will be able.  It's encrypted in a very good and yet
pathetic way to***off the normal fans.  The same goes for the N3 version
on the CD. The only reason why we have a N3 version of the Daytona
International Speedway is that it was leaked from another source than the
demo CD.

Yes

No, because if they did, it would be posted all over the internet like a bad rash.

Eventually, when someone breaks the encryption that it was written in.
But don't hold your breath.

It is *my opinion* that since the flap between Papyrus and all the people that edited the
Talladega track into Daytonas and posted them on the internet and passed them around thru
e-mails. Papy decided to do a new encryption on the tracks, NL and 2000 Daytona, and
possibly N4, so that they could squeeze more money out of us when they decided to release
new tracks and so that we could not edit the existing ones into the ones that we need and
want.

Just my opinion...what do you think?

You ever thought that maybe since Papy does not own the license for tracks
like Daytona that they are simply keeping themselves out of hot water?

Remember, when you talk about the Legends/N3 Daytona, you are talking about
a track that Papyrus themselves made.  I am sure that those that own the
rights for Daytona are not entirely thrilled that the N3 Daytona is all over
the internet.  Papyrus has to do what they can to cover their own arse.

I agree, but considering that most of the people in these newsgroups who
play N3 are also the product testers (unpaid, unappreciated, and unwitting),
what is going to happen when a sim comes out with the usual flaws, and that
can't be tweaked? I suggest people will get fed up and loose interest. Papy
will end up shooting the messenger.

How can they stay out of hot water with ISC when ISC had them do a Daytona for the
Speedweeks program?

The Track was allowed by them, STRICTLY for the program.  Of course Papy had
to put some kind of protection in there to prevent piracy.  ISC probably
made that a stipulation.

For people to make comments like "a way to***off their fans" is getting
mad at the wrong people.  Can we blame Papy for covering their butt?

I would not want Papy risking their relationship with the Daytona people, I
would like to think that at a future date we can have this track in the Papy
games, legally.

The encryption is only for the Daytona tracks.  You will not see that
encryption in legal tracks that Papy owns the rights to.

In future releases you will be able to tweak tracks just like we do now.
