First, if you are expecting the upgraded banked-oval, you will be
disappointed.  I was :(

It's flat as a pancake, and the apex is tight as hell for such a big track.
Working the throttle off-turns 2 and 4 is extremely important as you'll
shoot up from the apex into the wall hard in a heartbeat.

I can run fairly consistent 37.7's after about 30 min of practice.  Hoping
for 37.5's once I figure out all the angles.

For as wide a track this is, the wall comes up FAST folks!  And it hits back
hard too :)

Still feels like a mini-Indy without the short-chutes.

I beleive that was the original intent.  Remember the track was heavily
modified after it's first or second year to better cater to the Nascar
crowd.

Do you guys know there is an upgraded Homestead for N2k3? Banked and
everything. Much easier to drive.

<SNIP>

IIRC, it was a flat, rounded rectangular oval in its first evolutionary
cycle (ala Indy). Then they 'redid' it and made the corners more sweeping
with less of a 'chute' at each end. Now they've scrapped it all in favor of
the higher banks, which I think will be very cool. I haven't tried any of
the updated versions that appear to be out yet, but surely by next year
there will be one that everyone settles on as the best and races will be
easy to find on it.

I think it's tendancy to send cars to the wall driver-side first nearly
every single time also had a bit to do with the changes, but I could be
wrong...

I was going to ask the same question, and if we can find it soon enough I
have NO problem with us running THAT track next weekend :)

-Larry "we don't need no stinkin flat-tracks"  :)

OMG!!!

This thing is a BLAST!

You can _almost_ (not just quite) take the track at full throttle!

You can steer the corners with your right foot, which is something I always
like :)

With the fast setup (which I am not sure is actually tuned for the banks) I
turned some low 30.1's, and that's just after 10 minutes of trying.  With a
few setup changes, I have zero doubt that this is a 29 or 28 track.

Give it a try.  It's a blast :)

It IS *** right-side tires with the standard fast setup, but if like
dirt-tracking you'll get a real kick out of this :)

It feels somewhat like Coca-Cola, just a lot shorter and much, much
smoother.

It's also very wide.  Plenty of room for 3 lanes racing (though the upper
needs to watch the wall on exit).  I did a double 360 spin in turns 2/4 and
never touched a thing and kept right on going.  It was a grinner :)

Me likes :)
