RASCAR Race At Homestead

Observations after running a few races against the AI:

1) I advise evryone to look at the driving lesson for this track.

2) Turn 3/4 - I don't know why, but the tendancy is to drift high in
this turn.  The AI did it, and I did it.  Be ready for it.

3) If you're coming into the turns two-wide, and you're on the outside,
it may be wise to back off and let the inside car have the position.  If
you're on the inside, make double-damn sure that you slow down enough to
avoid drifting up the track in the middle of the turn.

4) Resist the urge to over-correct as you exit turn 2 or (and
especially) turn 4.  The rear end will get light on you and you'll end
up smacking the inside wall.

5) Calibrate your wheel/pedals before you get on the track in the
practice session.

6) If someone bumps you from behind in the turns, you'll almost always
be headed for the outside wall, especially if you drove in too hard and
are trying to compensate by braking a little more.

7) You have to enter the pits from the backstretch or sthe sim will
black-flag you.  Some of you may have already noticed what appears to be
a shortcut access road to the pits.  I don't know if the sim will black
flag you for using it, but it's bad form to do so, and dangerous besides
because you end up having to make a hard left-turn onto pit road.  If
someone else is coming into the pits at the same time, there's likely to
be a problem.

8) You can't merge into traffic until you get onto the back-stretch.  My
advice is to stay on the acceleration lane and not go off into the
grass, or you could spin into traffic (and be awarded a black flag by
the sim in the process), not to mention probably ruinging someone else's
race.

Ian - I had to look hard to find your car number.  We need to be able to
clearly see car numbers during the race because the spotter/crew chief
tells us to "Stay behind the 68 car", not "Stay behind Ian in the Sound
Express car".

:)

IMHO, it would be better to just choose another track :-)
