Calling all IndyCar II Gurus...

Anyone able to help me with these questions?

i) What is the current patch/revision status for the game? The only
patch I have applied is to alter the colour of the panel behind the
driver's head in the paintkit. Are there any others yet?

ii) How do I set up the roll bars and brake balance to stop my car from-
   a) nosing into a corner uncontrollably during braking,
   b) losing the back end whilst cornering,
   c) losing the front end whilst accelerating out of a corner

iii) Which of the default set-ups (if any) should I use, and are there
any typical modifications I should make to them?

iv) Any other hints and tips you have on car set-ups would be most
appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

PLF

: Calling all IndyCar II Gurus...

: Anyone able to help me with these questions?

: i) What is the current patch/revision status for the game? The only
: patch I have applied is to alter the colour of the panel behind the
: driver's head in the paintkit. Are there any others yet?

You have the only patch to date.  Papyrus/Sierra promise a patch will be
available when they release the Win95 version of ICR2 -- target date
mid-June.

: ii) How do I set up the roll bars and brake balance to stop my car from-
:    a) nosing into a corner uncontrollably during braking,

Try moving your brake bias more towards the rear.

:    b) losing the back end whilst cornering,

Try tightening front roll bar and loosen up the rear.  You may actually
need to play with your shock setup.  Also, be easy and smooth as you get
back on the gas coming out of corners.

:    c) losing the front end whilst accelerating out of a corner

Not sure what you are experiencing here.  Is the front not turning?

: iii) Which of the default set-ups (if any) should I use, and are there
: any typical modifications I should make to them?

My approach has been to take the Easy or Fast to go out and learn the
track.  Once I get a stable time on several laps, I start working on
tweaking the setup.  First thing is check tire temps and look for even
temps across the tire.  Change camber to even out temps (Outside hotter
-- add negative camber // Inside hotter -- add positive camber).  Next
I play with shock settings.  Always remember to go back out and give
each change a good 10 laps on the track.  I usually run tests with about
25-22 gallons of fuel.  This way I get a setup that is stable and can be
controlled during the race by adjusting rollbars as the fuel load
changes.  Only make one or 2 adjustments at a time.  Take notes.  Once I
get the shocks and camber down I start playing with wing settings
looking for more speed.  Remember as you change somethings it may put
other settings out of whack and you may have to go back and tweak
camber, shocks, etc.

: iv) Any other hints and tips you have on car set-ups would be most
: appreciated.

Do not attempt to make setup changes until you have mastered the track.
Practice, practice, practice, and HARD WORK.  Keep notes and you will
learn how different changes affect your car's handling.  You can use
this info for setting up your car for another track.

Right i say reduce steering lock at most circuits and bump down the
rear suspension camber to say -2.00 at most street circuits to stop
oversteer and that loose feel u get coming into corners after light
braking

Shit i just noticed u are asking for gurus......Gauntlet is quick
enough but a guru!!!

Anyway i don't know shit about a patch but i do know about car sets
visit http://www.racesimcentral.net/~unions/indycar.html

Roll bars i don't know a lot about but i have got a few set ups  off
people for qualifing and most of them have the top bar on full and the
one below it just a little less
i recommened one pip over half way for brake bias

use the qual set up for racing as well. ONe can usually make a few
tweaks to these such as the steering lock {down to about 11 believe it
or not on street courses} rear wing as low as she will go before it
becomes unstable and front wing as high {more angel ie bigger numbers
:)) sorry am i being patronising :) as possible without limiting top
end speed to much here are all my top end speeds at the street
circuits {and little set up bits after them}

Aus: 190 {front w. 15 rear wing 10. steering lock 11 for all circuits
no stagger}1:29:8

Clevland: can't remember hate the track {***ing asphalt sea if ever i
saw one}1:02:4xx

Detroit: *** can't remember here either :)) {front w. 18 rear wing 15
no stagger}1:13:018 {just set it}

Languna seca: 180 {front w. 18 rear wing 13 stagger at +200} best time
1:05:7xx

Long Beach 195 {front wing 13. rear wing 9 stagger none or -200
depending how u like the car my race car has the stagger.} 52:460 {YES
YES YES FINALLY BEAT THAT ANDRETTI ***ER}

mid-ohio: 180 (front wing 15. rear wing 11.4 don't ask me what the .4
is doing there!! no stagger} 1:09:9xx

Portland: {laguna seca set up :) 59:11x

Toronto {13.4 front wing 11.4 rear wing} 57:4xx

Vancouvr: {18 front wing 15 rear wing no stagger ger your shocks right
here.....***ed if i remember what right is but hey........... 54:370
{my favorite lap :)

done

Lets see what else can i tell from my vast tombs of knowledge.......
not much really. I don't know to much about set ups i do just loads
and loads of flying laps.I have only done 20 laps of detroit though so
i was quite proud of that one :))
ok ok the ego trip ends here..
If u are looking for some set up advise get it from guys who have
faster times than me {plenty of them} they should be able to give u
the shit.
One more thing when u are braking into corners don't over extend
yourself keep it smooth at the entry and rough at the exit!!!

Oo-er! Was that aimed at me? I have to admit that when I read the post
from 'Gauntlet', it made very little sense. Do you think he's cross at
me? Gee, Mom, have I been flamed?

To all of you that responded via e-mail to my post, a big thank you. I
am working my way through all of your suggestions, and I think I am
making progress.

To Gauntlet, get help, and keep taking the tablets.

As another person insulted by Gauntlet it seems to me that insulting people is the only
reason he`s online. Very sad.
