        I installed the patch tonight as was rather disappointed. The
colors all were washed out and not nearly as vivid as those in the
regular version of N2.  

                 I also added all the lines to my autoexec files as
per the instructions. N2fxaa=2 was the option that I used as per
several posts.

                I have a Diamond Stealth 3D 3000 graphics board and a
Diamond Monster 3D acceleration card.

Try adjusting your gamma settings.  It will make the colors much better
(not washed out).
