Just my 2 cents,  I did do the upgrade and
still can't but barely run everything maxed out.

P4 1.5ghz
256 PC800 , 400fsb
Geforce 2 Ultra 64
avg. 30fps in N4, in D3D, or opengl.

Heat,  though with better graphics maxed out, 50+ fps.
So I think again it is because papy has not updated their graphics engine in
so long it can't really take full advantage of these newer graphics card.
Think about it , they use to use Rendition on pretty much the same graphics
engine, which Indy Car 2 did look very good on it.  But,  I think they have
gotten all they are going to get out of it, even GPL would not do D3D until
one of the guys took it on his self to write a patch for it.

engine.

Um, I think it might be because he bought a P4. Weaker FPU than P3
even. If you want a killer machine today then buy an AMD 1.2ghz. I'm
waiting for at least 1.5ghz Thunderbird before I even consider

I average that good with my Celeron 566 running at 850 mhz, with a GeForce2
MX card, and 128 mb of ram.
Something don't sound right on your system, you should be getting much
better.

P3 1GHz
256 SDRAM
64MB DDR GeForce2 Ultra

I have seen upwards of 75fps
Definately something wrong on your end.

You shouldn't have plunked down all that money for a P4 if you were going to
use a current game to measure performance.  You need P4 optimized code to
really see the benefit, otherwise it's slower than an equivalent P3/Tbird.
Go to www.anandtech.com and search for P4 to read more detail than anybody
really wants to know about the P4 architecture.

Cars look better in N4, IMHO. Do you have dynamic shadows in NH? Are the
mirror better in NH? How's the AI? Yellow flag under yellow? NH is
limited to 1280 X 1024, N4? 30 fps is pretty good considering almost
everything is maxed out.

Sorry , I do not believe you guys are getting 70fps running 1280x960x16 and
4x4 FSAA with everthing maxed out and drawing 42 cars ahead and 10 behind.
I know I could turn the FSAA off and get better but it then looks really
bad, I know I could turn the drawn ahead cars down to 15 or so but why
should we have to,  new engine or not it will never looked better than HEAT
to me, I'm not saying its not a better SIM, I think it is,  just that HEAT
has better graphics and I can run with the above config, and still get
50+fps.

What really sucks is the 2 road courses have the worst frame rates,
especially in a race, I think papy has some more tweaking to do!
