However, since non-overclocked Celerons run with a FSB of 66MHz, is it
possible to just swap the CPU for a new Slot 1 Celeron 433? Would a BIOS
update for the motherboard be required? It's a Dell with an Intel
motherboard (82440FX chipset).
Thanks in advance,
Brian

Sorry to ask this but... as we have the same computer (XPS D266), and from
Canada also, did you just overclocked it by changing the speed of the CPU in
the bios ? I read the manual and there's no jumper on the board to do so,
except the "different Bios menu" one.
So you just put the "Processor speed" to 300 ?
My PC is cooled enough so that it won't over-heat if it's that easy.

To change the processor speed, I changed the clock multiplier from 4 to 4.5
by moving one jumper (4x 66MHz = 266, 4.5x 66MHz = 300). When booting, it
comes up as a "XPS H300" - Dell never actually made a H300!
If you can set the processor speed of your D266 from the BIOS setup screen,
it's likely to work - back then, PII's were not clock-multiplier locked.
I got about a 10% increase if framerate with GPL (that's with a Voodoo2).

Oh I bought my PC before Christmas, I won't do that error again (prices fall
much faster in January). My Board didn't had any multiplier, so I was
wondering if it was possible to do so via the Bios. Thanks for the info ;-)
