GPL gamma control problem

by chartran » Thu, 28 Oct 1999 04:00:00

I hope someone can help me !

I'm running GPL on a Voodoo3/2000 AGP card with the latest drivers from 3dfx
on a Intel P2 350mhz sytem. The game and Voodoo card runs fine but I'm
unable to get the game to react to the Display Control gamma adjustment. You
can see that the control has an effect because the 3DFX splash screen gamma
does change with the adjustment but the game doesn't react.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks and Cheers !

In the display properties dialog, you can adjust gamma correction
seperately for 'desktop', 'D3D' and 'Glide/OpenGL'. Did you select the
'Glide/OpenGL' box before adjusting the gamma settings?

I and a few others experienced this problem when we bought
Voodoo3's this summer.  Regardless of what I did in the 3dfx tweaks my
display would still remain dark (making it difficult to race on
circuits with black tarmac).  I have never been able to trace the
exact cause of this problem and it also seems to be one that affects
only a small number of people based on Usenet postings.  I don't think
I've even seen the problem acknowledged by 3dfx.  Nevertheless, there
is a solution.

I found an old version of GLIDE2X.DLL for the Voodoo Banshee
card (dated October 98) that responds to gamma controls properly.  All
you have to do is copy the file into the same directory as GPL.  If
you can't find it anywhere, I'd be more than glad to send it to you.
