Just like the rest of you I was very disappointed with the dismal FPS
in F12k.
So, being that I practically tore apart SCGT I figured since F1 2k was
made by the same developers I would give it a look see.

Now I have seen a suggestion on here to lower than number of cars.
Yes, that does work, but to me have the point of racing is having
other cars to race against.

But by changing one setting in F12K I can now race at 1024x768, 22
cars, all options except environmental mapping maxed with smooth
framerates.

First let me show you my system specs.

P2 466 Celeron O/C to 525 at 75hz
128 meg RAM - 8 nanosecond SDRAM
WD 6.5 Gig HD
Creative Blaster TNT2 Ultra with 3.77 drivers
Directx 7a
NASCAR Super Sport Wheel (no Force Feedback)

Now, after you have created a player a folder is created in your SAVE
directory using the name of the driver you created.
Say you created a driver named Joe Bob.
Look under SAVE/JOE BOB
Now under the player name folder open the *.PLR file with a TEXT
editor (notepad will work fine)

Scroll down until you see the following:

MIPMap=0

Change that sucker to read:

MIPMap=1

Start the game, go to graphic options and max everything except for
environmental mapping.
Take a test race.

if you notice some stutter slowly reduce graphic options until you get
smooth FPS

Big difference huh?

Wonder why ISI left the Mipmap option out of the in-game screens?

I tested this and it got it's flaws,

The minute i put this one i noticed my frame rate when up. But do you see
the wide lines next to the track.....jeez what a blur..very annoying to
drive next. Secondly my***pit is gone. Suddenly all light of aids used are
off and i can't check my tires anymore.

Maybe this isn't the final version yet and is EA still working on the final
version (which i don't think) Maybe this is way the didn't include it? Cause
it screws the***pit settings?

All question we will now when the final version releases...

I'm not sure if my frame rate went up, but it does fix some of the graphical
problems I see.  There is an abundance of jagged lines when looking off into
the distance.  On the track this is mostly due to the white lines on the
sides.  With mip mapping turned on, this is eliminated and my eye is better
able to stay focused on the job at hand.  I still think that full screen
anti-aliasing is needed for this game, but this is a good stop gap solution.
I was going to hold off for the release of the Voodoo5/6 before purchasing
this game, but I may pick it up sooner.

Just curious. Does that mean that you were going to delete the game
in the mean time? Or did you still intend to play the warez version
until you come up with a good excuse to actually buy the game?

Waiting for voodoo5/6... WTF.

I will be deleting it.  Any other questions?  Or should I proceed

Mine was already set to 1. It depends on how your video card is configured
and your color depth.

All of this is completely off topic...

I don't believe in political parties at all.  Each individual should follow
their own hearts and take a stance on the issues individually.  Supporting a
political party blindly is the folly of the foolish.

My statement was only in reference to the Democratic Party whose policy of
"big government" vs the Republican's call for "less government".  Sorry if I
offended you.

Yeah, right.  "Less government" in areas where it suits them; more in
others.

aws6000...
You make some valid points. However you undermine
your credibility when you make STUPID statements
and/or ASSumptions like the one above. ALL political
parties have their share of IDIOTS who want to tell
others how to live their lives (i.e. the GOP stance on
***). So before you start tossing around
stereotypical statements in a public
forum...push in the clutch and engage your brain.

Very much agreed...

Again... I am in agreement.

No offense taken at all. I have a short fuse
when it comes to stereotypical thinking. I
misinterpreted your post. My mistake.
Have a better one !!

Waiting impatiently for GP3
