That's a little misleading.  It does support 3dfx, but only through the
DirectX API not the Glide API.

I think what this game really needs though is a V5 with the full screen
antialiasing.  Get rid of some of the jaggies and flickering texture issues.
Maybe even allow you to run at lower resolutions but with the same clarity.

In training mode, with allmost everything on the highest level, fps is
still very good. But as most people noticed, in a race against the AI
the fps drops badly.

I experiment a little bit with the settings, and now I have a very
smooth fps even in a race. I had to sacrifice some beauty, but the
main things I did were:

- Mirrors: everything turned off, you'll only see the track and cars
- Allmost all settings on Medium, expecially the Texture Quality. That
one is a real fps killer if set on maximum.
- AI cars visible: 6
- Texture on cars: Low

It takes a little but of experimenting, but with all the details
turned down a little, it runs perfectly smooth on my PII 450 with
Voodoo II SLI.

Still a shame that the game doesn't support 3dfx, still can't
understand why they didn't implement this.

Yes, I agree.  I think that F1 2000 will run nicely on the cards coming out
soon.  Though, I've been playing around and have gotten a nice combination
of graphics settings and its nice during a race on my 333celeron, 96mb
syncdram, 16mb voodoo banshee pci.

I put resolution on 800x600, everything on medium except for Fog (whatever
that is) on maximum, texture mapping on high, player detail on low, opponent
detail on low, visible cars on 6, only billboards, grandstands, and bridges
on.  For the***pit, I set it on high, with steering wheel on, but
everything else off (i turn the mirrors on by hitting R in the***pit).
Special effects: bilinear filtering is on, everything else is off.  And Misc
I have message center detail on low and page transitions off (helps the
menus).

With all of that, I can get pretty good FPS on my low end system while at
melbourne.  Monaco might be trouble, but I noticed that buildings are a high
fps killer, and putting texture detail on high instead of Medium (which high
is much better looking than medium) doesn't affect it too much.

That's what I meant Andrew, sorry for not being clear.
