The banked monza track is available for GP2. Could this be converted for GPL
?
I am told that the GP2 format would make a good standard for all third party
tracks.
How about a GP2 to GPL converter.

I heartily endorse your reasoning, Phil.

Now go and make Solitude! :-)

Trivia:-
The two banked turns (Karussell and the mini-Karussell) were never actually
designed as "banked" corners. The road surface is actually the flat tarmac;
the banking was designed as a gutter to allow rapid run-off of rain water!!

It was only after some smart drivers started to use the "banking" and
lowered their lap times that it became accepted practise by everyone racing
there to follow suit.

Bruce... sometimes, there are moments when you better can't say
anything... especially when I'm trying to convince Phil in making the
banked Monza! :)

It's a little bit disapointing, the banking in GP2 can't have more
than a 10 degrees (or so) banking... but fun nevertheless.

I think this applied to the laws applying to creating AI files in GPL.

Did I read it here or someplace else that the grass and dirt "ditch"
at the Karussell was first used by Juan Fangio's mechanic while
checking out the car prior to a race.  He told Juan, Juan used it in
the race and the next year they put the concrete down.  I don't know
how close this is to the truth but it makes for a good story.

Lucky bastard. Will that mean that you won't participate in IGPLC-F3
on sunday ? Not that a tradeoff like that would need any cosideration :)

I'm not sure Olav. Saturday I will go to Hockenheim (me and my friend
want to visit the cross placed at the spot where Clark died), then
we'll go to the Ring, and Sunday we will visit Spa and Zolder in
Belgium.
We'll be driving the Ring in my friend's Alfa 156. Problem is that he
has lowered his car very much, I hope this isn't too much of a problem
on the Ring...
Ofcourse I will make lots of photos and will post them online.

I hope I can make it back in time for the race!

Andre

I thought that it was actually earlier than that, Randy....in the 1930's.
Once again, I need to cross-reference my reference library so that I can pin
these ***y tid-bits down once and for all! :-)

Prepare yourself for a rough ride! :). But the downward G-forces are great,
esp in Karusell. Read my report at http://fgplc.figc.net/

You can find links for Ring and Rouen reports from the bottom of the front
page.

Also, if you're interested, lots of pictures here:
http://puskarutaja.figc.net/spa.htm
http://puskarutaja.figc.net/nurburgr.htm
The pages are in Finnish but the pics are great :)

Great pictures. I first reacted to that there are a lot more threes
than in GPL, but then come to think about 1967 was 33 years ago, and
33 years worth of wood less :)
