open GL problems with GPL

by Milo Johnso » Sun, 28 May 2000 04:00:00

I just bought a Hercules 3d Prophet 2 GTS video card.
When I use OpenGL I get a lot of resolutions to choose from.
When using 480x640 everything is fine but when I use 600x800
or above I get a box with the picture in it smaller than the screen
and the higher the resolution the smaller the box.
Anyone had this problem?  Would appreciate any input.

Thanks   MILO

Sounds like nvidia 5.xx drivers.  If that's what you have, 3.68 or
higher 3.xx should fix it.

I agree it's a driver problem, but I'd recommend the 2.08 Nvidia
reference drivers.

I had the same problem with my Geforce DDR card. You need the Nvidia
reference drivers version 3.68. The 5.xx versions don't work.
You can keep your 5.xx drivers for Direct3D if you need them though.
Just drop the nvopengl.dll file of the 3.68 drivers in your
windows/system dir and leave the rest alone. That did the trick for me.

Cheers !
Cris
