OT: GPL and RAM

Believe it or not, I occassionally actually use my PC for pursuits other
than sim racing.  Blasphemy, I know.....  I want to add some RAM to my
system, but not at the expense of creating problems in running sims.

I remember reading that GPL did not get along well on systems with over
512 Megs RAM on them.  Was that only under Win9x, or is that still the
case using WinXP?

Thanks!

IIRC the problem was with win9x, not gpl, but you can add the  following
line to your core.ini to limit the amount of ram used:

[ Replay ]
ReplayMemoryOverride = 80000

The value is in kb.

"Malc" <

   That is the proper fix Malc.  Both Win98 and GPL are not happy with more
than 512mb.  The reason, I think, was to reduce support costs so that
Sierra non-skilled phone techies wouldn't have to try and debug a Win2000
machine.  Imagine an IT yuppite calling and complaining that he would have
to add all sorts of extra programs just to run a racing game.
