GPL RAM Questions

I'm considering upping my system's RAM from 640 Megs (256+256+128) to 1
Gig (for reasons other than just GPL).  I'd replace my 128Meg stick with
a 512Meg stick.    In the past I've read posts about GPL not running on
a system with more than 640 Megs RAM, but I'm not sure whether that's OS
dependent.

I'm running Windows XP Pro.  Would there be a problem running GPL if I
increased my RAM?

Also:  My mobo is 266mhz based (Epox 8Kha+), so my present RAM is
PC2100.  I do plan to upgrade to a faster board at some point, so would
I be better off with a faster 512Meg RAM stick (ie - PC2700 or PC3200,
etc), and would that higher-speed RAM cause a conflict with my existing
2 PC2100 256 Meg sticks?

Thanks!

I have 896 MB RAM and am running on XP Home for the OS, and GPL runs no
problem

I'm pretty sure it will work for you.

The higher speed chips will work on your motherboard too, you don't need to
worry about mixing them.

Thanks for that info, David!

You might have to increase the replay memory override buffer in the
core.ini.

If I understand the way it works correctly, adding the replayoverride
line will help stop gpl having a problem with a large amount or RAM. If
the line is already there you can leave it alone, but with having plenty
of RAM you can increase it to allow bigger replays (longer & with more
effects like smoke etc).

I frequently do 2-3 hour practice sessions that I save to analyse later.
ReplayMemoryOverride = 131072 covers everything, probably with plenty to
spare.
