Actually, the CART Racing install program (Win95 version) is kinda
dumb. What it does is write the DOS, DOS/Rendition, AND Win95
versions to your HD. That's why it takes about 150 meg. Each
version, by itself, is only about 50 meg. It is possible to simply
copy the DOS or DOS/Rendition versions straight from the CD to a dir
on your HD. As far as the Win95 install, I'm not sure about a
shortcut for that (OTOH, you really want to use either of the DOS
versions instead of Win95, since the Win95 version is generally
inferior).
What does CART Racing give you over IndyCar Racing II?
* It's basically the same program, patched to the latest level (with
the exception of the DOS PaintKit, which much be patched from 1.00 to
1.02), with the in-game graphics changed from "IndyCar" to "CART" (as
per CART's agreement with Tony George et al).
* It includes the DOS, DOS/Rendition, and Window 95 versions.
* It includes a full manual (handy for those who only have the
Rendition-bundled versions which didn't come with a manual).
* It includes a 200 page handbook, "Winning - CART Racing Strategy
Guide" by Steve Smith, with many good tips on the sim.
* CART Racing by Sierra/Papyrus retails for $29.95 and currently
includes a $10 rebate coupon in the box.
