Alison Hine told me the early red-rim LWFFs were made in China and were
mechanically almost identical to the later red-rim LWFFs built in Taiwan,
EXCEPT for the fact that the Taiwanese LWFFs had a different, *better* IC
board.  I can confirm that.  My Chinese LWFF had a mysterious "brake creep"
(the brakes would gradually come on during a race--tapping them would "knock
the pads back" but that didn't do much good on ovals, where you don't use
the brakes, and my lap times would deteriorate--I thought my tires were
going away) which was cured when I switched to a Taiwanese-made LWFF.  I
have no idea if this applies to the later, mechanically-inferior two-tone
LWFF or the new Logitech MOMO wheel.

Hmm,
some comments on this:
The *earlier* Taiwan model is the mechanically better one.
The *later* Chinese model has a better FF due to circuit board changings. On the
downside it's lousy fabricated and has very often (in my case always) bent motor
spindles.
The best choice is the (intermediate) China wheel in grey box: has the later
board but obviously Taiwan-fabricated components were used.

More info about this on my website

BTW: I don't understand your pedal problems. Is this mechanical or electronic
related? Never heard of something like that. Could you elaborate?

Jens,

Sorry; you're exactly right.  I had it the wrong way 'round -- dyslexia
rears its ugly head again!

P.S. I went nuts trying to solve the "brake creep;" posted everywhere, incl.
Team site.  No help forthcoming.  It felt like the engine was losing power.
Most pronounced on ovals where brakes not used.  Tapping the brake would
return value to normal, but in a few secs creep would begin again.  Went to
the Win calibration/test screen.  W/o touching anything, you could see the
brake needle start to creep up.  Thought it was a mechanical prob.  Bought a
set of TSW pedals rewired to plug into Logi desktop unit.  Same prob.
Bought a second LWFF (Chinese).  Prob gone.  Musta been electrical.  No one
(incl. me) has ever seen anything like it.  Wierd, huh?  Got my order in for
a MOMO.  Hope I can still use my TSW pedals with it....
