The U.S. version should weigh in at about 800K.

Personally Im overjoyed to see that the minimum ride height has been
raised to 2.50 inches.

Quick question though, if the ride height is set to only 2.50, will the
cars get the same false advantage that they could with 1.00 inch ride
height?? i.e. the so-called "zero-compliance" setup??

Looking forward to the patch,
Thomas JS Brown

What, two versions of the patch? Will the European version be out at
the same time? What are the differences by the way?

There will be 6 versions (US, UK, French, German, Spanish, Italian).
The only differences will be (a) the language, (b) the US version is
the only one that doesn't require the CD to play (same as
out-of-the-box), and, possibly, (c) how the patch is packaged up for
download/installation.  Oh, and when it's released, don't bother trying
to patch your European version with the US patch.  It won't let you.

Is there a market for US GPL exports? Just wondering.

My apologies if I missed this in the readme or previous discussions, but
will the patch fix the problems with the Voodoo2 cards so we can run the
latest drivers? I am currently using old 3Dfx reference drivers instead
of the latest Diamond Monster drivers since only with the old drivers
will GPL run at all. It still crashes much too often.

The problem with Glide 2.54 is with the 3Dfx drivers themselves, not
with the game, so we really can't fix it.  Sorry.

Don't want to***anyone off, but if the Glide 2.54 drivers are
broken why is it that GPL is the only sim (I know of) having a
problem? And do later driver versions work with GPL (have heard they
do for some, don't for others)?

I'm running the latest Q3-ready V2 reference drivers, and GPL runs fine.
This is on a brand new install of Win98 and GPL with no legacy files on
the system.

This raises a question. A lot of us with the UK version have a no cd patch.
How will this be affected ?

Well, I guess GPL must be the only sim (that you know of) that uses the
Glide functions that are broken in version 2.54.  Specifically, the way
we draw the cursor, and the way we draw the mirrors both rely on this
broken function.  3Dfx has acknowledged that they did, indeed, break
this function in Glide 2.54.

Don't want to***anyone off, but why did this happen?  This same
problem existed in the gold drivers that shipped with all Voodoo 2
boards around the time of GPL's release. We reported this problem to
3Dfx before then, they identified the problem, and by the time GPL was
released they had fixed it in Glide 2.53 (might've been 2.52).  Now
iiiiit's bAAAaaaaack in Glide 2.54.

From what I've read on this group, 3Dfx's Quake 3 compatible drivers
(see http://www.racesimcentral.net/) do work properly with GPL.
I haven't tested them myself.  YMMV.

Listen Randy, I was asking a question and prefaced it with a "don't
jump on me for simply asking" as I semi-expected a curt reply. I
didn't understand why GPL had a problem with newer Glide drivers whist
the other 10-15 Glide sim/games I have don't.

There you go! You told me why GPL has a problem, thanks ever so much!

a bit more sarcasm...

I've read the same thing here, apparently its still the same
situation.

Thank you for the answers, hope no one else "irritates" you today.
