I agree. Who really knows? The american F1 feed (Fox sports channel) of the
Japan GP featured absolute shit sound for the Mclaren.

I think they sound great. Is amazing to hear a F1 car zoom by a camera.
Those things sound good

Lots of sound patches were made for F1RS. I am suprised MGP2 doesn't sound
any better.

It does sound better, it's just that the engine sounds are not what people
expect. As before, people seem to expect the engine sound to be like what
they hear on TV, but it's not like that at all. As someone said earlier,
this is a realistic sound from within a***pit with a helmet on!

I like the sound a lot in MGP. Much improved IMO over F1RS.

Hey, you noticed this too.  Sounded to me like the car was inside a
tunnel all the time.

Way to go Mika!

I have a suspicion that the engine sounds are somehow filtered for TV so
they don't mess the commentators' speech. Sounds like some of the lower
frequencies are out. However, I've only heard GT cars live. I still can't
believe F1 cars sound like damn electric vehicles on steroids.

I heard that too. Sounded like it was in a tunnel.
Made me wonder if they were dubbing that in themselves. Heh.

Well, they kind of do. Just imagine the most seering, high pitched whine you
can, add the sound of sandpaper on wood, then amplify ten times (or more), and
you'd be getting close to the sound of a real F1 pulling 10 000rpm.....

Curiously, In my experience, the modern F1 car is not  loud enough. Comparing
the noise of the Current F1 field to the wonders of the FIA Cup for
Throughbred GP Cars field, and you are easily left with the conclusion that
they sound better- and louder.

Current F1 cars can go suck eggs, noise wise.

Both the highs and the lows are filtered. Or perhaps more correctly
clipped. And no they certainly dont sound like electric vehicles...for
comparison the GT cars sound like electric vehicles compared to
formula 1.....but hey I love the sounds of both.

Well I havent heard Monoco Sim yet but just wanted to say that a
Formula 1 car is one of the most chilling, loud, exciting, loud,
sounds I have ever heard. It literally sends shivers up your
back....and its not just the exhaust but all the accompanying sounds
as well. I think its gonna be difficult to do it properly. Also I
would have an extremely hard time believing that that sound is very
much dimmed by a helmet mere inches away from the intake and exhaust.

For the record it doesnt sound anything like TV....if the only time
you have heard a Formula 1 car is on TV then you will be in for a
serious ass kicking shock.

The closest so far at achieving the combination of ***, obnoxious,
glorious, thrilling sound of a Formula 1 car is .....you guessed
it...Grand Prix Legends.

I don't. If they are specifically designed to include noise muffling, they can
do the job.  But are they?

That, I'll agree with.  The sound on TV is nothing like live.

Yes of course...I wrote that late and wasnt thinking...the ear plugs
will be very effective.  Still if it were me doing the sim I would
want to attempt to capture the rawness of the Formula 1 engine.
Realism be damned because its one of the most thrilling sounds ever.
And if done correctly would almost sell the sim by itself.
