Agreed.  Ubisoft really needs to hire a talented sound engineer.  The sound
of F1RS is terrible.  And I don't just mean the samples were terrible (they
were), but the actual sound code that modulates pitch, etc., is terrible,
too.  I'm reading from reviews that the sound in MGP2 is similarly bad.
That's a shame.  Oh well, I'm not budgeting any time or hard disk space for
that sim anyway.  GPL is too good, and I still only have the demo :-)

Somebody posted a message a few weeks ago about a file for MGPRS2, which had
the ferrari sound from GPL converted to run with MGP. I cant remember the
link now, but I installed the sound and altered the volumes to suit my
taste. IMO absolutely brilliant, not quite as good as in GPL but far better
than the standard sounds in MGP.

Oh, just found the link : http://homepage.tinet.ie/~expatjen/MGP.htm find
the file named Ferrari MGP.zip, or go direct from this link :

Yepo.

If you people REALLY want to hear how a formula1 car REALLY sounds..

Check out http://www.boers.com/   Go to the F1 section. Download those 2
*.mp3 files

When you finished downloading them, crank your speakers to the max. I said
to the MAX. that's ALL TO THE TOP. Now go into your Win95 sound control
panel and crank up *.WAV and master volume to the MAX. I said MAXIMUM ;)

Now play the sound.  Stay less than 1 meter from the speakers. Be prepared
also to buy a new pair of speakers after hearing the sound hehehe.

This is how a Formula1 car sounds when your on the track. Nothing less...
It's a lifetime experience ;)

MGPRS2's sound  is significantly better in one regard, when you back off the
throttle, it doesn't instantly sound as if you are at idle.  I've also noticed
that it sounds a bit more interesting from the out of***pit (toggle f2)
views (though no real simmer would use those :-))

Ya know, I laughed when I saw that they sold F1-sounds CD's when I was at the
Canadian GP.  But that mp3 hauntingly brings it all back.  It sounds
absolutely awesome.
