Monster II Control panel problem

Monster II Control panel problem

by Sondo » Tue, 12 Jan 1999 04:00:00

I have a Diamond Monster II 12mb.  My system is a PII 400 128mb ram.  I
recently went to the display properties and selected the Monster II tab.  I
selected the Advanced button then selected the force triple buffering.  I
then selected Need for Speed III, there was some flickering at the menu but
the game played fine.  The problem is now when I go back to the display
properties and de-select force triple buffering and hit apply then ok and
exit control panel, it in fact does not de-select it.  I can go back
immediately and select advanced and force triple buffering is still
selected.  I tried this several times and even selected the defaults but
still the same problem.  Then as a test I selected all of the options under
advanced, and sure enough I cannot de-select them.  When I play Need for
Speed the flickering at the menu has disappeared and the game still plays
fine.  I am wondering where the problem lies.  If by still being selected
are the selections working?  If not how would I get them too?  And if they
are working how can I get them too stop?  I am using the latest drivers from
the 12/1 version.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like you've installed the latest Monster 2 drivers, version 2.05,
right?  It's a known bug and most folks have either gone back to the 2.03
drivers or gone with the reference drivers from the 3Dfx website.
