Help monster 3d II/Monster sound

by Morris Jone » Fri, 21 Aug 1998 04:00:00

Hello, I have a Sony 200mhz w/64ram, Intense 3d and a Monster3d.
Would I gain anything by going with a new Monster 3d II, or would I be
better off upgrading my motherboard and processer, to like a 100mhz bx board
and a 350 or 400mhz P2. If I go with the monster 3d II is it backward
compatiable with the older 3dfx games.

My main games are racing, can't wait for GPL, and Nascar3

Also has anyone tried the Monster sound cards?

Thanks
Mj

Upgrade your mobo and processor...then buy the voodoo II's...I just got the
Monster MX-200 and it absolutely rocks. The 3 D positional audio is like
having DTS for your PC. However, the Monster Sound is not compatible with
Nascar 2. You have to use your old dos based card for it. I can't wait for
Nascar 3!!!

You probably should upgrade the motherboard to a BX chipset board. Abit
makes a great BX board called thw BH6 for around $100. Also pick up an Intel
PII 400 or faster CPU. And you'll need some PC100 SDRAM for the 400 to run
at 100bus. You may want to get a 3dfx voodoo2 also. The upgrade should cost
you under $1000 and really increase the speed of your system by 2-3 times
faster then what you are running now.
