MAJOR PROBLEM-On Monster 3d II card

by Mark F » Tue, 21 Jul 1998 04:00:00

Hello All,
Not to long ago I bought a Voodoo 2 video card from Diamond which is the
Monster 3d II. Everytime I launch a 3dfx enhanced game (including D3D) The
screen freezes, but the computer is not, I can hear myself liftoff the gas,
get back on it, do all functions blind folded, but the screen lucks up. I
have no Idea on why this is happening. I have a overclocked 250mh p-mmx
chip, asus txp4 mother board with the latest drivers, win95, and so on. All
help is aprreciated.

Hello Mark,

Did you connect the pass-through cable?  I sounds like you're still looking at
the output of your 2D card.

Best Wishes,
Scott

Yes, I have connected the cable from my old video card video output to the
monster 2 card video input, and then the video output of my monster card to
the monitor. To my knowledge, I dont have to do any wiring in side the
computer. If your talking about some internal cable, I aint sure which one
you are talking about because there is one connector for the double monster
connection but i probably cant use it with my stealth 3d 3000 pro.

I would try setting your motherboard to it's normal bus speed and then try
it.  Anytime you overclock you are taking a chance that things won't work
properly.

Overclocking to 250MHz probably means you have your bus going at 83.3 MHz. Try
not overclocking and see if you get the same problem.
