Hey Eric,
I was wondering if you could give me some advice on that Monster 3D
Rendition card from Diamond.  I already have a Diamond Stealth 64 PCI 2mb
DRAM card and I see that the Monster3D card works in conjunction with your
existing video card.  I am looking for a card that achieves everything:
Win95 performance, 3D Rendition performance...everything.  Please email me
any advice you, or anyone else, can provide!

-Jeff

The Monster3D (like all the non-Rush 3Dfx cards) will do nothing for
Rendition games and are 3D only.  They will however run Direct3D and their
own native ported games.  If you want an all around solution, you may want
to look at the upcoming second generation Rendition cards.  The Diamond
StealthII is set to be priced at $130 or so for a 4meg board, and looks to
be a very solid performer all-around.

As I am sure many people will tell you, the Monster 3D is not a
Rendition card. It uses the Voodoo 3dfx chipset. Just to throw my .02
in, I love mine. The graphics are exceptional on the games that
support it in native mode.

Jeff,    The Monster 3d is a 3dfx card not a Rendition card. It is a
superb card for games which support the 3dfx chipset. What you may be
interested in is a setup similer to what alot of gamers run around this
neck of the woods (myself included.)
I use an Intergraph Intense 3d 100 card with a Orchid Righteous 3d
card alongside. Here's how it all works- The Intergraph card (4meg)
handles all the 2d duties and does Rendition accelleration in the racing
sims. When I fire up one of my 3dfx flight sims the Orchid kicks in and
does it's thing. The two cards live happily alongside and dont seem to
have any conflicts. Needless to say I am more than happy myself with
this setup. I have both Rendition and 3dfx, the best of both worlds, so
to speak.
As far as I know any combo Rendition/2d card will work with any
stand alone (Monster, Orchid, Flash) 3dfx card.
Hope this helps, all the best, Mike
