Monster Truck II: joystick problem/microsoft screw?

I cannot calibrate my thrustmaster joystick..which works with the
hundreds of other games I have.  I simply reverts back to keyboard.  Is
this a ploy on Microsofts part to get people to buy a force feedback
joystick which is supported.  The box says any microsoft compatible
joystick, but mine don't work...anyone else?

I had a problem setting up my T2 with MTM2. Then I went to the Game
Controllers control panel, removed the T2 from the list, added it back
again, calibrated it, and closed the Game Controllers panel. No more
problem.

My guess is that MTM2 modifies the DirectInput or the Game Controllers
settings in some way, making it necessary for you to get it to re-recognize
your input device.

There's a very large manual in the game. Just click on help. It tells
exactly how to set up all the controllers. I have at T2 and never had to do
anything to set up my wheel through all the builds of the various betas.
Mysteries of computers. :-)

Wow. First it was the browser *** and now it's the joystick
***. I'm sure the problem your having is very frustrating but I can
guarantee that MS (apparently the Evil Empire at r.a.s.) did not program the
game so everyone has to have a MS joystick to play it.

Well, there are bright angels (you) and little devils (me), I can live
with that! ;^)

It is truly amazing to me how the media can so affect how people think
about Microsoft.  For me, MS is an excellent *** company that normally
produces excellent products.

I guess there are a lot of people envious of what Gates and Microsoft has
done and the money the company has made.

There is no ***, never has been, and never will there be.

The only real problem that I have with MS is with its lax support.  This
may be simply because they possilby do not have the man power to deal with
all the support questions posed.

And one other thing-- folks rant and rave oftentimes about government
interference.  But when the government sticks its greedy palms into the
coffers of MS people are all for it.

The tobacco settlement is all about money.  The government's suit against
MS is all about money.  It's not about fair practices or protecting the
young against a bad product.  It is all about money.

It's that simple.

Sorry for the off-topic rant,

I understand.  I have MTM2 and I agree that the documentation is skimpy at
best.  I use the Thrustmaster GP1 wheel with MTM2 and have never had a
problem getting it to work.

If I were you I would forget even using a joystick in a driving simulator.
Stick with the wheel.  It is much easier.

It's how they got there that bugs me. Simple luck. And a lot of the
software is unoriginal, ideas stolen off other people. The win95 UI is
a prime example. There's a UK company who build their own systems and
use an OS called RISC OS which looks very similar.

Most of the software is a con. Win95 was meant to be completely
independant of dos. Last I heard Digital Research got it to work from
their version of DOS.
