Monster II SLI Problems

The short of it:  When I installed a second (same as first) Monster II
voodoo2 board, the frame rate in Grand Prix Legends went from 37 to 15 fps.

The long of it:  AMD K6-2/400, 128 meg ram, viper 550, award bios, and glide
2.53.  In properties it states SLI mode detected.  I have played with the
resolution and refresh modes, back and forth, but with no positive results.

Anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it?
