Why not thrustmaster FF ??????

by Mad » Wed, 14 Jul 1999 04:00:00

Hi Guys

I've red al the posts about the FF in the 1.1 patch and now I'am in the
market for a new wheel.
I have red some ff wheel tests but the thrustmaster is never on of the
tested
The only thing I could find is that it's shit  ....  WHY ????
Now I'am thinking to buy the logitech
I wll have to adapt my home made pedals ( better then you can buy :)

But can you explain why the thrustmaster is such a bad choice

Thanks Glenn

1) Price... $50 more than the Logitech one here...

2) Polling issues, but I don't know if that's particular to GPL or not.

Let you know what I think of the LWFF once I <censored> find one.

And driver issues ... according to Randy C (a GPL developer) the GT
uses *** amounts of CPU time.

Glenn,

I have one of these Thrustmaster wheels and I am about to return it.
The reasons are not that the FF effects are no good (I think they are pretty
good) or the price is too high (where I bought it it was cheaper then the MS
wheel). The damn thing only works for 60 to 90 minutes and then goes
completely to the left. You then have to turn it of, wait for 30 minutes and
then start again. Quite anoying. The other reason is that MGPRS2 is not
playable because after 60 minutes or so the game slows done so that it
becomes unplayable.
GPL works actually great apart from that left error.
I havn't tried any other whell but I sure wouldn't buy this one again.

You may want to try the I-Force reference drivers before you return the
unit.

Michael,

I'm using them already. Still having the same problems as with the
Thrustmaster drivers. Maybe it's just a defect unit, so I'll think it over.
BTW, are you using the Thrustmaster wheel without problems?
