GP2 complete bug list & update wishes - add your notes!

by Ville Ko » Fri, 26 Jul 1996 04:00:00

Hi,

I just had an idea. How about if we dealed GP2 like we did GP
manager...lets gather all bugs and wishes and send  em to microprose
when the list seems complete.

Ok...please continue this list with your own found bugs or wishes
(however lets use common sence and be realistic when deciding whats a
bug or adding your wishes, ok? :-))

BUGS:

1. The damages of cars R fixed way too quickly during pitstops. (cant
replace front wing under 10 secs. This worked in f1gp)

2. Its too hard to cause any damage to your car...cars should be more
fragile. (actually this is no bug, but...). System like ICR2 would be
great - options, realistic - arcade - no damage.

3. At Monza on the S/F straight you can still pick up tow from the
cars on the pitlane.

4. Computer cars sometimes seem to disappear in replays.(cant verify
this myself but have read about it)

5. Go on add your own notes...

WISHES:

1. Changeable weather...not just rain or sunny...how about wind,
temperature etc.

2. Editors...car & driver editors (includes everything from car
painting to driver skill editing)

3. again...add your own wishes...

Once this list seems complete we email it to microprose or to guys who
R responsible for the updates.

This may not work as planned...but lets give a shot...theres nothing
to lose :-)

thx for replaying...

One bug I noticed was after qualifying in pole for Spain at 20% race
distance (13 laps) I noticed as I was waiting on the grid that I only
had 5 laps of fuel on board, with no way to change it. Although I spun
out on the first lap anyway.................

I very much agree with this one.

5. When using autobrakes the car seems to lock up very easily.
6. Using the z key locks the brakes up instantly shouldnt be that way.

My biggest wish is for weather. But also would be nice to have a key
combination (like ICR2 that allows you to instantly restart a race. I
counted it today and it takes 11 clicks to get back to a start after
crashing out.

Absolutly essential to have at least rain in F1.

Would be nice.

Good idea.

Also, they seem to behave as bitmaps rather than polygons. I had Panis

instead of seeing the bottoms of his wheels I saw the sides, as if the
whole car had been squashed. Odd, that.

You can adjust the percentages before you start the race, so you can
pre-decide to pit early (eg maybe at 25% distance in a two stop
strategy).

Can't be certain without loading it up, but when you pit, doesn't it
display the remaining number of stops & the number of laps to the next
scheduled one. You can then change these although it will mean a
longer pit stop unless you are very quick!

I think it's because you had selected a three stop strategy. I don't
think I like the fixed %age stops - with ICR2, I can pit early or late
if traffic dictates, and maybe have a splah-and-go if required, or
top-up while changing a wing. With GP2, the die is cast when the
lights go green.

Has anyone noticed what happens if you have a scheduled stop at, say,
lap 20, but need to pit for a new wing at 19? Do you have to stop
again in a lap or can you take your stop early?

And has anyone run out of fuel?

I agree - if not for "cheating" during races, at least for hotlapping.
It's a pain that you have to change your tyres every time in the pit -
accelerate, gear change, steer right or left, change when you want new
*** is time-consuming.

I hope we get better results this time;-)

In order of importance:

Real standing starts.  The car should be freely controllable before
start and not locked on grid, so possible false starts (and black
flags) would make starts more challenging.

Real stop and go penalty from getting black flagged.

There should be separate control settings for each track (steering lock,
reduction with speed, etc).  Hockenheim and Monaco have (at least on
my computer) quite different control settings...

Qualifying sessions should end when the time is used up and last car
takes the flag.  Not when clock says "00:00", which is usually during
my last fast lap:-(

Length of quickrace adjustable from menus.

Pasi.

PS If there currently exists a shortcut key will someone please let me
know as currently this is the most frustrating thing about GP2.

Good idea, but with MicroProse's pace the patch will be out for Xmas '97 =)

I've noticed only one major bug: You always make it to the race. When you end
up at 27th or 28th in qualifying, you'll get to start to race from the back of
the grid. This bug was also in F1GP.

3. Being able to edit the keys for keyboard, and being able to change
things
like Steering Help (for keyboard)

4. Have a save replay feature, not just hot lap.. Its very annoying when
you have a great replay of say a crash, but you have to finish the lap
before
you can save it. You might not even finish the lap and therefore CAN'T
save it!

5. Have 1 save season file not need a new one created for EVERY track
you race
on!

Can't understand why this was left out.

This would be top of my list and again I can't think why this was left
out as GP1 had these options. I had a nice key set up for the oringinal
which I am unable to use. Infuriating!

Regards
Dave

Support for VESA 2.0! Then we can get that SVGA working faster.

> And has anyone run out of fuel?

Yes, it happened in a 100% race at Hockenheim. 1.5 laps before
the finish I ran out of fuel. Next race I tried to race more
"economical" - most of the times shifting gears before the red LED
turns on - and saved a lot of fuel this way to finish the race !

if you don't have steering help.  Even you have enabled pit, you can
still ignore it and keep on driving.  (the Return key is to enable and
disable the pit)  So you can do a splash and go if you wanted to

I have .  You car will artifically slow down to halt.  I have only tried
it one.  And the feeling is strange (may be the sound), not as realistic
as icr2.
