N3 Thrustmaster Nascar Pro Problem

by chrisb » Mon, 04 Oct 1999 04:00:00

I have set the wheel for separate, then calibrated, etc. Everything is fine
except my steering - turn to the right I go to the left and visa versa. Any
ideas what is wrong?

Did the wheel calibrate in the W98 control panel and the game properly?
Also, what device are you using in the W98 control panel joystick applet?
It is on ID#1 right?

The wheel calibrated in both fine. I am using ID#1 - it is the only one
shown. I am using the right device - Thrustmaster NASCAR Pro w/separate
pedal.

Strange!

You should try creating a new "custom" device and check the box
for 'car controller'. That was the only way I could get my old TM-T2
to work.

Also, you may want to try combining the pedal axis as a test to see
if that fixed the steering problem. I know it sounds weird, but it could
have an affect.

This is a trick that "may" work.  When you assign your wheel settings
the old Papy programs always told you move left then right.  I haven't
purchased N3 yet but if it uses the old calibration routines from N2/99
then make sure you do move left then right.
The trick is...(if you've done everything by the book til now) when it
says move left first then right--reverse the order and go right first
then left.
[of course if N3 calibrates like GPL and some newer sims by having
separate assigns for left and right that won't work.}  But in any case
try choosing opposite of what it "should" be.

Im not sure if it's because I use a dedicated game card or not, but I
have NEVER needed to calibrate my Nascar Pro wheel (or T2, T1 etc) in
the control panel of windows for it to work with Nascar Racing sims. I
just calibrate in the game and it works fine.
I have however had to calibrate it in control panel for other driving
sims.
If you can get away with just calibrating in the game itself it is
MUCH easier. :)

I have tried your suggestions and no luck. I have calibrated in the game. No
luck. Seems very strange. Everything is fine except left is right and visa
versa. Who should I contact - Thrustmaster or Papyrus? If I were to buy a
new steering wheel what would be the best?

In general N2 and the DOS version of N1999 are DOS games so
calibrating in the window scontrol panel is not needed.

I guess N3 is still among the same genre, cause i dont need to
calibrate it in control panel either.

N3 is a DirectX windows game. Once you have calibrated your device in
the control panel joystick applet, you should not need to do it again.

In the case of N2 and NR1999(DOS) you do not even need your wheel
configured in the control panel joystick applet. You do need your wheel
configured in N3.
