Nascar 4 and Windows XP

I recently upgraded to Windows XP and now I can't get N4 to install.
The InstallShield gets up to 100% then I get an error box pop up with
a red circle with a white "X" in it. No explaination, just an "X" and
then I go back to the desktop. I've upgraded all my drivers, but
cannot figure this one out.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff P

May want to try the Raid patch that was posted.  If I remember correctly
there was an issue with a certain type of this.

I've seen others who fixed similar XP install problems by following the
suggestions to clean up their autoexec.nt found here:

Because you have to upgrade your computer to be able to run it.

Why do people call you Dave?

Because you're Dave.

Why do people call XP an upgrade?

Because it's an upgrade

Really rather simple

Correct. Upgrade means an improvement over the existing situation, like
moving form Win98 to Win XP.

Eh?  Mebbe because things just *work* better? (The essence of an
upgrade).  Not that it's a real hard accomplishment in the M$ realm.

ahhh things work better in XP...Thats good to know...find the guy in the
'Going over to win2k' thread whose serial port wheel won't work in XP.  Tell
the guy with the Asus vidcard why N4 locks up under XP.  Ask owners of the
the Saitek Wheels how much better they work under XP.  Check out the updated
Software for MS wheels and XP.   :)
Great upgrade if you ask me...

Worth every penny. :-)  Don't know... my MSFF wheel works fine for me,
it's USB though.  Every program I have works, even got Quake 1 with the
Malice add-on to work.  Only complaint has been the default GF drivers
under OpenGL, but that was easily cured through installing 12.90
drivers.

I believe that once people figure out how to work around certain stuff,
like with some game titles not working properly, and I'm pretty sure
there will be workarounds for it if we give it a bit of time, most
people will have very few real complaints about XP

I'll admit up front that my experience with XP is strictly 2nd hand as
of yet, but we installed XP on my brother's Athlon 1.4/512/GF2PRO (I
know, embarassing)/yadda yadda yadda, and he hasn't had any complaints
yet

An avid NHL (EA Sports) player, he uses an old Gravis Gamepad PRO,
doesn't even need the the SW from Gravis to get all 10 (?) buttons
working, faster frame rates in 3DMarke 2001 than he got in W98SE with
same driver revisions etc, and no crashes, he has no complaints so far

Another customer had to enable "Win98 compatibility" or something to get
Viper Racing to run properly, but no complaints there either

Not saying that there are no issues, but just as with Win9x, we need
time to get familiar with the OS and it's quirks, once I see a post
about people getting V5-5500's to work properly with XP, I'm converting
from Win98, I'll still use Win2000 on my office PC though as it has
everything I need and is working properly right now, but the first time
I need to reinstall it, I'll go with XP

You'd almost think I was e***d about a MS OS......:-)

Beers and cheers

your first mistake was to install XP at this time should of waited till
later next year when most of the bugs will be found and pach's should be
out. XP is a resourse pig and is full of bugs, but we all will probably be
forced to upgrade yes upgrade lol to XP sometime in the future, or wait till
the next windows release next year lol.
