2002 will run fine, but will all your hardware run ok?  Check to make sure ALL your hardware has
appropriate drivers first, and ALL software you use is also compatible b4 upgrading.

No problems at all.  In fact, my Microsoft FF wheel and pedals seem to have
less trouble in XP than they did in 98 or Win ME.  Nascar 2002 runs great.

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the
citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a
double-edged sword. It both emboldens the ***, just as it narrows the
mind.  And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the
*** boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no
need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry,
infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their
rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I
have done. And I am Caesar."   -- Julius Caesar

Yes, it runs just fine.
I would highly recommend when you get your XP Home upgrade, you do a clean
install - ie let XP format your hard drive for you during setup, and let it
install clean. More work, but you'll end up with a more solid operating
system.
You just have to be sure you  have your win98 cd so it can verify you
qualify for the upgrade.

Actually the "latest greatest for vid cards isnt always best, I found that the 23.11 worked better for me than the 27.42s I am weary
to try the 27.70s now.... it works, its not broke, Im not gonna fix it :)

Great advice thus far, I too suggest going and getting all the necessary 'XP
Updates' before installing the OS. This is especially true if you are using
a SB Audigy card as they have an XP specific driver for it at
www.soundblaster.com , it was the only thing that hung my XP install.
