Has anyone tried the S3 utility which upgrades an S3-based video card to
VESA VBE/Core 2.0 from VESA VBE 1.2?
I don't know whether this would help with GP2 (is it VESA 2.0?), but how
about ICR2 (patched and/or '95) or Nascar?
The utility was written by the same fellow who wrote the S3 speedup
program. It's at S3's WWW site under shareware.

don't know about nascar.. ICR2 (the version i have at least) has a UniVBE
module linked straight into the EXE, and uses it when you run the game
with the -h option. So essentially it is ALREADY using the VBE2.0
functions. but some other program might do a better job than the one
that icr2 uses.. i'm not sure how that might work tho.

this is like UniVBE or SciTech Display Doctor. same concept, except
UniVBE isn't limited to only S3 cards.
