...But today, in a span of 1 hour, I joined 5 races and was crashed out in
all 5 before turn 3 due to others impatience.  Considering retirement.  I
feel that some folks racing online would be better suited for Powerslide.

Join a racing league! In a racing league, If you***up and crash on the
first lap because of your impatience, You wont be driving in that league
again.  Or, another way to say it...  You'll find drivers in those leagues
that really want to race and you wont find a single driver that wants to win
on the first lap.

Trust me, You'll enjoy every minute of each race in your league. Enough to
want to join more then one.

All I can say is the accident happened well in FRONT of me... As I
remember, you qualified at 2:12xx and Mike and I at 2:13xx. We 3
(behind CA and Jake)  composed the top 5 if memory serves me. I
*think* I slowed and went wide in T1 to let a speeder by on the
inside, but would LOVE to see the 1st minute or so of the race. I
thought the leaders got tangled up.. While i'm thinking of it, is
there a way to save certain parts of a replay, and where is that split
screen replay player I read about somewhere?

Thx

Mike -  even IN a league it happens often enough. Case in point --
saturday's Mexico race. I qualified around 5th, was a clean start,
came into Turn 1 and saw cars heading for the stratosphere in front of
me! Now this was with possibly the two hottest F3 drivers out there,
<kudos to Jake and C. Anderson> so again, it happens to the "best" of
us..

Yes, it does still happen,  I never looked back at the replay, Since I didn't
see anyone infront of me spinning, and I felt a tap from behind just before I heard
all the tire screeching, I think that my braking early to avoid a T1 accident may
have been the cause. :-(

Either way, YES, it still does happen every now and then.  You do have to admit
though, it happens less often in league races then in pick up races :-)

C-ya on the track,

I agree it does happen less, just wanted the poster not to expect
perfection no matter where he races (ESPECIALLY if he races with me!)
The reality of pick-up races is, for me, to start at the back and stay
there until things get going. Its easier to lace through accidents
than recover from one...

Actually, I need to see a replay of the start to this race. <Mike> ?

I explicitly demand that people hold station for the first two corners of
any GPML race. It is stessed in the drivers briefing minutes before we
connect. The reasons for this rule are pretty obvious. Those who are in
front on the grid are there for a reason. In an intermediate long race the
quick guys are going to be lapping the slower cars with ease. Why the hell
these slower drivers with qualifying times in excess of 2 secs from pole
still insist On trying to carve through the field is beyond all reason to
me.

BTW. I'm nowhere near the pace of Christer and Jake but I did finish third
at Mexico. Where the hell did the two guys who overtook me into t1 on lap 1
end their races?

Well said Mark,  we in the GMSS try to abide by a similiar system as
that as well.
We don't have any firm rules about not overtaking in the 1st couple of
corners, but as you said, the guys in front of you on the grid are
there because they put a faster qualifying lap in than the guys behind
them, regardless whether it was through skill or luck, they still
deserved to be there.
If the guys behind are such hot shoes, they have plenty of time to
prove it over the course of the race.
If more people respected the guys in front of them on the grid, then a
lot less accidents would be occuring at the start of a race.
Nothing pees me of more than a guy a couple of rows back deciding to
be a hero from the line and 99.9 % of the time ends up taking out the
guys who qualified in front of him..
As you guys allready said, sometimes incidents still happen even in
league races, but it is a much rarer thing  than it is in pick-up
races..
Sounds like you have your F3 league well under way now Mark, hope you
are having fun with these beasts..
I still think this is the best racing to be had on-line with GPL. :)
Congratulations on getting this off the ground..
Cheers,
Ron

And Mike, if your out there, my offer still stands to set up a
weeknight (EST) F3 league, web site, etc. if you will host the races.
It seems I always just miss your pick-up F3 races on VROC!!

I'm working on this..  I'm going to try to convince the Race Communications
Association (one of my sponsors) to set up a racing series.  I don't think I'll
have any luck because of the last corporation I talked to (GP race April 11th)
ended up not wanting to do it.  But, Because I knew the right people for many
years, I think I have a better chance at it this time.

Might they have wanted to pull out because of the lack of finishers in the
GP ? The war of attrition that it turned out to be might have turned them
off

A full field of F3 cars, all battling with each other all the way down the
field might provide a lot more interest to the casual viewer.
