ok so how does Earl hunting Don get turned into Robin of the Wood?
Besides it has to be true...or Mel Brooks wouldn't have spoofed it...

I grew up about a mile and a half from what was--when it was built, and for
about the next ten years--the best damn dirt track in the State of Tennessee
. . . Smoky Mountain Raceway.  It was better known than Bristol for quite a
while and held two sanctioned NASCAR races for several years.  Used to hunt
arrowheads when I was a kid (and found a few) in the cornfield that later
became the track.

I know, it's hard to accept I almost cried when I found out.  But,
there is a Peter Pan so all is well in the end.

Swanley, UK... even closer to Brands Hatch than the plebs from Bromley :-p

Not that I've ever *been* to Brand Hatch... I'll take my Ferrari there for
a spin one day.

Of course first I have to earn the money to buy the Ferrari.
