So you've done it then ? :-=

I think everybody went as far as they could considering the demo didn't have
the full file lists and information.

You must have a different N4 demo from what I have. What I've seen is the
biggest change they've made since ICR1. Maybe longer, but I don't go back
that far.

How is today's Nordschleife different from the one in GPL?  I've seen
some in-car footage that people posted on the web, maybe I should go look
at it again.  When I first watched it, I had only just started learning
the ring in GPL, and although I did recognize a few spots, a lot of it
was foreign to me when I saw it, both in the video and in GPL.  :)

And while we're on the topic of track conversions, have the West brothers
made any comments about possible track compatibility/convertability
with GPL?  Because I would dearly love to hustle the Audi R8 around
GPL's incarnations of the ring and Spa...

I don't see any major changes in the file architecture, what are those you
are saying?

> How is today's Nordschleife different from the one in GPL.

In 1970 the track underwent a major rebuild.  Corners were
straightened out, 'jumps' were removed, the hedges and a lot
of the surrounding vegetation was uprooted.  In addition the
track was widened, a bit off run-off room was added here
and there and the armco barriers were installed.

It was also shortened by 10% in 1983 when they started working
on the new GP circuit.

All in all, what exists now is quite a bit faster than the version
in GPL which makes Clark's '67 time all the more remarkable.

No Dover.trk file, No Dover.3DO, my guess is they have been combined into
Dover.ptf

So you have a broad understanding of the 3dos and the ptf, and don't see
anything much different ?

Like I said, it's not a major change.

Then you definitely have a different demo than the rest of us.

I think I've mentioned this before, but when this was discussed on VROC a
while back Grant Reeve suggested conversion between N4 and GPL would *not*
be simple. He might be wrong <shrug>, only time will tell.

It is times like these I wish I had the old statement from a Papy
employee claiming that converting ICR2 tracks to N2 and the other way
around would be *impossible*...:-)

Guess we'll see in due time

But of course, we could always ask Frank

Hey, I never said impossible! :) Given enough time, someone will
probably
figure it out.
