Nascar 4 crash: black screen! Please help!

by Guil » Thu, 12 Jul 2001 05:04:16

I have nascar 4 and this game worked well for month. But today I am unable
to play it without crash. I am in the championship mode in indianapolis. I
am not able to make two laps without crash: the screen become all black and
I have only the sound of the game...  Even ctrl alt del can't quit the game!

1) I didn't change anything on my machine ( driver or direct x etc...)
2) All my other game or application work fine and without crash.
3) My spec:    P3   550 mhz
                      256 ram
video card: ati radeon 64 ddr.

Why this game is ok several month and suddenly becomes instable?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Guill....

N4 may have lost the "hook" to your video car.....or a DX 8.0 driver file
has become corrupted.  This happens, more than you might think.  The first
things to try is "re-assign" the video options for N4 to your present video
card.  And, if that doesn't do the trick, then re-install DirectX 8.0a.

Next step after that is to re-install your video card drivers, but that's a
little more complicated so try the above first and report back.
