Cart Racing T2 configuration

by Charles R Conno » Mon, 09 Mar 1998 04:00:00

For Christmas I received the PC Gamers Editor's choice collection from
Sierra online.  One of the games in the five pack was Cart racing (formerly
known as Indy Car Racing 2)  After loading the game twice, I have still not
been able to configure my T2 for the game.  The problem is that when I hit
the configure tab on the menu nothing happens.  Therefore I can't configure
the wheel to work.  I already have Nascar 2 and had no problems. Does any
one have any suggestions?

A couple of questions and suggestions:
Which version of CART are you using?  The win95, dos, or dos3d?
there is a file called controlls.cfg that stores the configuration of your
wheel/stick you can delete that and the game will prompt you to recalibrate
your wheel/stick/whatever.
Then after calibrating, assign the buttons etc.

When you say "tab" sounds like the Windows version.  Personally I would
highly recommend scrapping the Windows version and install the DOS
version.  While the Win version has nice menus and stuff, it really is a
piss-poor performer from the "game play" field.

If this is the Win version, do you have your gameport and controlling
device configured properly in Win95?  You must select and calibrate your
device in Win95's Control Panel before the program will detect your
device.

Also check and see if your T2 will require the axis adaptor for Win95.
Here is the information for determining this:
cal Bulletin April 24, 1997

IMPORTANT! Converter Not Needed for T2's manufactured since November 18,
1996!

This technical bulletin applies only to Formula T2 Driving Wheels.
Please reference the date code on the bottom of the steering console.
Please reference note for explanation of date code. The date code for
the T2 unit is on the bottom of the steering console.

If the date code is less than 961118, (in other words, if the T2 was
manufactured before November 18th 1996) use the setup information that
exists in your T2 manual and FYI sheet.

If the date code is 961118 or later, (in other words, if the T2 was
manufactured after November 18th 1996) the converter is no longer
needed, and is not supplied in the box. The Formula T2 now connects
directly to your computer's gameport as shown in the installation
diagram in the manual.

**Note: the date code consists of six numbers. The first two numbers are
the year of manufacture (961118). The second two numbers are the month
of manufacture (961118) in this case the 11th month or November. The
last two numbers are the day of manufacture(961118) in this case the
18th day. The proper translation of 961118 is November 18th, 1996.

Okay one more thing to try for the Win95 and your T2.  Get
Thrustmaster's ProPanel applet to replace Win95's joystick or game
controller applet at:
ftp://208.129.210.78/pub/library/calibration/propanelv11.exe
