GPL: AI behaviour at Fontana and IMS.

Dear Mr. Noonan and Converter Team,
I have noticed something about the AI behaviour at these two circuits:

Both circuits are 2.5 miles in length and are almost identical in width and
camber on the corners. so one wouldn't expect any difference really in the
way the AI behave during a race.

Yet the AI at IMS always slow way too early for Turn Three, allowing the
human driver to zoom past underneath them.
The AI at Fontana don't do this....they start to slow much closer to the
corner and it makes the racing so much better.

Could this behaviour at IMS be easily fixed, do you think?

I would also like to know if the AI at Mid-Ohio and Sears Point
could be fixed?

Just download LpEdit for GPL and you can fix the race.lp file
yourselves.  Pretty simple, though time-consuming, process.

I experimented with that a bit.

Open the track.ini, and set:

dlong_speed_adj_coeff = 1.1242
dlong_speed_maximum = 2.3827

I think it makes 'em a bit faster in the corners, and limits their top speed
to 193mph.  Should improve their laptimes too.

Wish I could figure out why only 4 cars will do qualifying laps.

Thanks Bill.
Where may I obtain the utility and, if *I* use it, is civilisation as we
know it in danger of instant and *** destruction? (i.e., is it easy to
use or will I need to channel Albert Einstein into my PC?)

Thanks Aubrey....I'll give that a try.

I also am bewlidered by why the AI don't go out to practise.  Is there a
party going on in one of the garages that we don't know about, perhaps?! :-)

It's not the easiest to use, since you have to manually enter the
desired speed for each "frame" of the part of the track being edited.
Better would be a utility that converts a replay into a race.lp file.

Ta....your input is much appreciated.  I might have a fiddle with it but
tend to veer away from things mathematical :-)
